Poplar Hill First Nation is an Anishinaabe (Ojibway) First Nation, approximately 120 km north of Red Lake near the Ontario-Manitoba border. The challenging site is accessible only by air and winter road. As project landscape architect for Scatliff + Miller + Murray in Winnipeg, Erik Mustonen carried out a major re-design to re-locate playing fields and a hockey rink to a new site and performed construction administration services in coordination with NDL, the design build contractor, and Number 10 Architecture. He also assisted with construction administration for other schools being done by the same team, at the Fort Severn and Pikangikum First Nations in Northwestern Ontario.
